My plan is being crushed!

I am sitting here today, marveling at Mother Nature and her ability to crush my Strategic Plan to smithereens!

My husband, young son and I are supposed to fly out to Seattle on Christmas Eve and the Northwest is mummified in snow.  I have all of our suitcases organized, the presents were purchased early, and all our travel arrangements are in order. BUT Seattle’s airport is rumored to have run out of de-icer, Alaska Airlines is cancelling flights left and right and there is more snow in the forecast.  Falalalalaaa….

My family has several contingency plans for “what if the flight actually gets cancelled”, but we are all at the mercy of the storm and the obstacles presented as a result. So we wait.  My mother puts a hold on the Christmas dinner orchestration…. my brother rethinks his drive up from Portland… my sister hopes that if we do indeed arrive at Sea-Tac that her Suburban will conquer the unfamiliar snow drifts and persevere!  And I consider what to do with my immediate family in a last minute reactive ditch to “save” Christmas in case our flight never leaves the ground!

So, I guess my point with this quick blog post today is to remind you that not much in the world can be “controlled”.  Just when I thought I was organized, prompt and all planned out – I got dealt a blow!  Luckily I am amused by how much I cannot control things sometimes.  So I try to go with the flow… and I hope you can too!  Remember: “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” – Robert Burns

Happy Holidays!  We will be back in January to continue our quest for Enterprise Excellence!  Until then, stay warm, travel safe and count your blessings!  Cheers!
