Green Office Award
Yesterday we (SBDC for Enterprise Excellence) received acknowledgement for our efforts to Green Up our office.
It was pretty neat to get recognition for something we actually teach people how to do!
As many of you know, our host UT Arlington has a President’s Sustainability Committee. One of the initiatives for the PSC is the Maverick Office Green Team. This program has levels of Bronze, Silver and Gold and these levels can be attained with varying degrees of Green Efforts within an UTA office suite. http://www.uta.edu/sustainability/greenteam
We achieved the Gold Level with our first application!
It certainly wasn’t difficult, but it took some focus and conscious decision making. It took one person taking the lead (Thanks, Cory) and ensuring that we came together as a team and made it happen.
That is the thing with Sustainability – you have to be conscious and it takes a team effort. Many of us are sleepwalking through our decision making processes or only focused on one thing (money). In order to be successful and Sustainable, we need to carefully consider all the decisions we make and the actions we take and consider “how does this affect my triple bottom line?”
