Robert became interim editor of the Fort Worth Business Press in November 2007 and was named editor in January 2008. He has been reporting for the Fort Worth Business Press for the last six years covering financial and oil and gas issues. He has won three Katie Awards for his work in that time, including one award for an early story on the Barnett Shale. He is also the editor of Research Texas, a magazine published by the Business Press that reports on research at educational institutions and companies across the state, and the Energy Report, a quarterly publication from the Business Press that looks at oil, gas and energy issues.
Prior to joining the Business Press, Robert freelanced for a variety of publications, including American Way magazine and BrandWeek. Before that he was a reporter and/or editor for a variety of technology magazines, including ComputerWorld, InfoWorld and InformationWeek.
Robert first began covering the energy business in 1985 when he was sent to Houston by Fairchild Publications to cover the “oil boom,” which rapidly morphed into covering the “oil bust.”
A Fort Worth native, Francis attended R.L. Paschal High School and graduated from Texas Christian University. He did graduate study at the University of Maryland in College Park in Radio-TV-Film and directed a documentary called Navel Academy that premiered at the Fort Worth Film Festival in 2000.
